Congratulations to Police Officer Everett Mojica for receiving the Rockville Centre American Legion Police Service Award for 2015. The ceremony was held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Rockville Centre American Legion Hall on Maple Avenue.
In January, 2011, the Rockville Centre Police Department, under the command of Commissioner Charles A. Gennario, and in an effort to increase officer safety, changed the Department’s duty weapon from a Glock 19 in 9mm to a Glock 21SF in .45 ACP. Pictured above are the 75+ new weapons purchased by the Department for all members of the Rockville Centre PBA.
Police Officers Scott Hockney and Stephen Reidy were named “Cops of the Month” by the Rockville Centre Police Department for their arrest of a career criminal on burglary charges.
Officers Hockney and Reidy, on routine patrol Nov. 22 at about 7:30 p.m., responded to an audible burglar alarm on Allen Road. Hockney looked through a window and saw a man inside carrying a large bag and heading toward the rear of the house. Reidy ran to the rear yard and stopped the man as he was trying to escape.
The subject violently resisted arrest, and Hockney joined Reidy who used his taser in subduing the man, who had attempted to grab Hockney’s firearm.
The subject was charged with burglary, resisting arrest, attempted robbery, two counts of assault and attempted robbery. The subject had an extensive arrest record with a lengthy history of violent offenses.
Police Commissioner Chuck Gennario commended the officers for their “diligence, dedication to duty and highly professional conduct” in naming them Cops of the Month.
The Rockville Centre PBA is pleased to announce that over $12,000.00 was raised during a recent benefit for Will Waxon and the E & W Greystone Deli. The E & W Greystone Deli was severely damaged during a fire several months ago. Pictured from L to R is Brother O’Connor, RVC PD Commissioner Charles A. Gennario, E&W owner Will Waxon, RVC PBA President Jim Carty, and Brother Seward. We thank all members and residents who helped make this benefit the huge success it was.
As the winter winds down and spring approaches, so does our Annual Rockville Centre PBA golf outing. This year we will be honoring State Senator Dean Skelos, a longtime friend of the PBA. The festivities will take place on May 28th at the Seawane Club in Hewlett. Registrants will be treated to a full day of golf, buffet breakfast, lunch and beverages on the course, top-shelf cocktails, dinner and dessert, all for the cost of $250 per golfer. Single golfers are always welcome. For $100, non-golfers may join us in honoring Senator Skelos with cocktails, dinner and dessert.
All attendees will enjoy access to the entire facility, including the locker rooms, pro shop, driving range and putting green. Caddies will also be available for an additional fee. There will be raffles and prizes, including the grand prize, an all-expenses paid trip to Ireland, courtesy of Sceptre Tours. On the course, golfers will have two chances at a hole-in-one to win a brand new Lexus, courtesy of Lexus of Rockville Centre.
In addition to golfers and dinner attendees, we are accepting donations in the form of tee sponsors: Red ($100), Green ($200), Blue ($300), Gold ($500) & Platinum ($1,000). In addition, anyone wishing to donate products or services to be raffled off to outing participants would also be welcomed.
Golf openings are limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible with your information and check, payable to the Rockville Centre PBA. I or any board member can answer any questions at 516-536-7081 or 516-766-1500. See you on the course!
Thank you for Supporting the Rockville Centre PBA and Senator Dean Skelos. Although we had a LOT of rain this year, it didn’t stop us from having a great time!
